Linear electric motors are one of the varieties of an electric motor, where the movable part moves linearly relative to the stationary one. An electric current is applied to the stationary part, creating a magnetic field. Under the influence of this field, eddy currents arise in the moving part, which, in turn, create another magnetic field. When these magnetic fields interact, a force arises that is directed along the axis of the linear motor and drives it.
